What is AWID?
AWID stands as a beacon of recognition, highlighting the often-unsung heroes – African women who are at the forefront of driving global development initiatives. Organized by Donors for Africa Foundation, this campaign is not just about acknowledgment; it’s about amplifying the stories and achievements of women who are catalysts for change in their communities and beyond. It is also about mainly finding unknown women who are transforming their communities.
Others who have made the list in the past includes; Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Ndidi Nwuneli, Former Liberia President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, Kiki Mordi, Ini Abimbola, Sarah Lagot, Hauwa Ojiefor, Chisom Obi-Jeff, Jokate Mwegelo and Sahle-Work Zwede, among others.
Who Are We Looking For?
We’re seeking outstanding African women activists, change-makers, government representatives, team members, and social entrepreneurs who create tangible impacts and drive progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Whether leading grassroots movements, spearheading innovative projects, or influencing policy at the highest levels, your dedication and passion deserve recognition.
Why Apply?
The AWID Awards offer more than just accolades; it opens doors to unparalleled opportunities. Your success story could inspire countless others and pave the way for even more significant achievements.
”The recognition by Donors for Africa Foundation, led to increased visibility and I was constantly approached by leading brands globally for collaboration and invitations to join CSR/Executive advisory boards. It put me on a different level on the global scene especially in the development space.”…
